Jody Thomas

Dr. Jody Thomas is a native of Robeson County, North Carolina and a member of the Lumbee Tribe of NC. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience serving at-risk youth and adults living with depression and anxiety. Since 2008, he has provided mental health services, training, consultation and clinical supervision to both community members and professionals.

Dr. Thomas is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He earned his Bachelor of Social Work from UNCP and his Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. He most recently completed his Doctor of Social Work from Capella University. His dissertation is titled "Native American Tribe Member Perceptions About Community Violence: An Appreciative Inquiry."

His research and professional interests include community violence, historical trauma and community development.
