Dr. Kelly Brennan brings over 25 years of strategic enrollment management experience to UNC Pembroke.

Before joining UNCP, Brennan served as Associate Provost for Enrollment Management at The Citadel, overseeing admissions, transfer and graduate programs, financial aid and the Veterans Success Center. Under her leadership, non-traditional and graduate student enrollment increased by 11% over three years.

Her career includes key roles at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY), Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and the University of Alabama — advancing global program expansion, accreditation strategies, strategic planning and student recruitment initiatives.

At UNCP, Dr. Brennan leads efforts to streamline recruitment and retention through traditional and high-impact technologies, weaving the student experience from prospective to alumni. She is committed to leveraging the university’s academic excellence and community spirit to foster continuous enrollment growth.

A native of Worcester, Massachusetts, Brennan earned her BA in History, MA in Counseling and Student Development and EdD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. She is passionately dedicated to student success and institutional effectiveness, emphasizing inclusive access and academic achievement.

Dr. Brennan and her husband, Dr. William Ulmer — a retired English professor from the University of Alabama — have two sons, Andrew and Jeffrey.
