Dr. Reneè D. Lamphere is a Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego, majoring in Communication Studies and Public Justice with a minor in Sociology. She completed both her M.A. (2007) and Ph.D. (2012) in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Lamphere’s academic interests include corrections, sexual violence, family violence, K-12 school violence and cyber and digital media crimes. She is passionate about teaching and pedagogy and has published in the Journal of Criminal Justice Education. She is also the editor of Survivor Criminology: A Radical Act of Hope, which explores the lived survival experiences of professors and practitioners in the criminal justice field.

She serves as a Guardian ad Litem in Robeson County, advocating for children in the foster care system. A committed advocate for sexual assault survivors, Dr. Lamphere actively promotes awareness on college campuses. Her current research focuses on the #MeToo movement and sexual assault disclosures among college professors.
