Getting Started With Therapy
Taking the first step can be hard, we want to make it easy. Follow the steps below to schedule your first appointment today.
All students begin with a brief triage appointment. This is a 30 minute conversation with a therapist to better understand your concerns and identify the most helpful next steps.

Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork
Based on your triage appointment, recommendations may include:

Self-help resources

Group or individual therapy

Workshops or skills-based support

Referrals to off-campus providers
If you're a good fit for ongoing therapy, you'll be matched with a counselor and scheduled for regular sessions.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes

Meetings occur bi-weekly or as needed

Focus is on short-term, goal-oriented care
Note: CAPS does not offer long-term or intensive treatment. If your needs exceed our scope, we’ll help connect you with outside resources.
