The document posted here is The University of North Carolina at Pembroke's most recent Common Data Set (CDS). The CDS initiative is defined by its organizers as "a collaborative effort between publishers and the educational community to improve the quality and consistency of information reported by college and university officials and to reduce the burden of compiling such information which is used in guide books." More information on the CDS can be found at www.commondataset.org.
The Student Achievement Measure (SAM) tracks student movement across postsecondary institutions to provide a more complete picture of undergraduate student progress and completion within the higher education system. SAM is an alternative to the federal graduation rate, which is limited to tracking the completion of first-time, full-time students at one institution.
Surveys & Results
The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is an important point of reference for all of UNCP’s planning and assessment. Student engagement embodies two critical features of collegiate quality. The first is the amount of time and effort students put into their studies and other educationally purposeful activities. The second is how the university deploys its resources and organizes the curriculum and other learning opportunities to get students to participate in activities that are associated to student learning.
The NSSE makes available comparisons for ten Engagement Indicators and six High Impact Practices. The ten indicators are organized into four themes: (1) Academic Challenge, (2) Learning with Peers, (3) Experiences with Faculty, and (4) Campus Environment. The six High Impact Practices (HIP) have positive associations with student learning and retention. High-Impact Practices (HIPs) share several traits: They demand considerable time and effort, facilitate learning outside of the classroom, require meaningful interactions with faculty and students, encoura
2023 UNCP Reports
The Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) is designed to measure faculty expectations for and observations of student engagement in educational practices that are known to be empirically linked with high levels of learning and development. These pdf documents provide respondent characteristics and item frequencies for faculty at UNCP who took the survey in 2008 and 2016 as well as comparisons between faculty and student respondents on like items.
