I am blessed to be a part of an amazing scholarship program that truly cares about future teachers and ensures we get once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We toured local primary schools in Firenze and Bologna and the Centro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi to learn about how the Italian education system works.

My biggest takeaway was learning to be a present leader. Col. Mixon’s leadership skills are impeccable. He started at a small school but greatly impacted the military world. That showed me that having a small beginning is not a bad thing — it’s how you progress from it.
