The Pembroke Undergraduate Research and Creativity (PURC) Symposium is UNC Pembroke’s annual campus-wide event where students from all majors showcase their research and creative projects. More than just a presentation opportunity, PURC helps students build confidence, sharpen communication skills, and gain real-world experience. It’s a clear example of UNC Pembroke’s dedication to hands-on learning and academic excellence—starting from day one.

Registration & Abstract Submission Deadline

March 20, 2025

Registrations and submissions are being accepted through March 20, 2025. Registration will not be extended this year as it has in previous years.

Poster Submission Deadline

March 26, 2025

Posters must be submitted no later than March 26, 2025. See poster specifications below for exact requirements. Due to the cost of printing, posters that are incorrectly sized and formatted will not be re-printed and will be omitted from presentation.

Presentation Formats

Ensure that preparations for your participation are completed well in advance and according to the requirements below.

File Format: JPG is required, digitally flattened to remove layers.

Resolution: 150 dpi is a minimum with 300dpi preferred. At the required size, your JPG will be a minimum of 7200px wide by 5400px high.

Dimensions: 48 in. wide by 36 in. tall

Cost: Posters are printed at no cost to presenters. However, due to the cost of printing, posters that are incorrectly sized and formatted will not be re-printed and will be omitted from presentation.

Exhibits and displays are welcome for those in the visual arts or those simply preferring an alternate format.  All exhibits will be displayed in the same room as the posters. Please advise the staff of your needs such as a pedestal, easel, table or if you have audiovisual needs.

Researchers  may choose to present in musical, theatrical, performance art or spoken poetry/writing.   Please work with the PURC Center staff and your faculty mentor to determine audiovisual needs.

Oral presentations are welcome in any discipline. Please advise the staff of your audiovisual needs.
